New York City — Kate Spade New York brought together advocates, mental health leaders, and influential voices for its fourth Annual Global Summit on Women’s Mental Health on Friday, October 10, at The Times Center. This year’s event placed a spotlight on Gen Z women, examining both the distinctive mental health challenges facing this generation and the innovative ways they’re reshaping conversations around wellness, community, and resilience.

The Summit featured compelling presentations from Olympic gold medalist Tara Davis-Woodhall, performer and mental health advocate Alyson Stoner, content creator Amaya Espinal, and other prominent speakers who shared personal experiences and professional insights on supporting women’s mental health across all stages of life.

The event underscores Kate Spade New York’s long-standing dedication to women’s mental health—a commitment that has now reached its tenth year and resulted in $35 million invested to date.

“As a brand rooted in joy, Kate Spade New York recognizes that good mental health is foundational to a woman’s ability to access her authentic voice, choice and power,” explains Taryn Bird, Executive Director of Social Impact at Kate Spade New York. “This year, as we bring together leaders, advocates and young voices for our fourth Annual Global Summit, we are especially focused on the unique needs of Gen Z women—a generation redefining community, resilience, and self-expression.”

In 2024, Kate Spade New York launched the groundbreaking Global Fund for Women’s Mental Health—the first initiative of its kind with an ambitious goal to reach 250,000 women and girls with community-centric mental health services by 2030. This research-backed approach, first introduced in 2023, emphasizes culturally responsive care that meets women where they are.

The Fund has attracted major brand partnerships with companies including lululemon, Pinterest, and Adyen, creating a powerful coalition committed to transforming women’s mental health support worldwide.

“Through the Global Fund for Women’s Mental Health, we are working to ensure that women and girls have access to community-driven, culturally responsive care,” Bird adds. “While we are proud of the $35 million invested to date, our mission is far from over, and we are committed to continuing progress alongside our partners and communities.”

Why Gen Z?

The Summit’s focus on Gen Z women reflects the generation’s unique position at the intersection of unprecedented technological connectivity and rising mental health concerns. Gen Z has been vocal about normalizing mental health conversations, yet faces distinct pressures ranging from social media’s impact to economic uncertainty and climate anxiety. By centering their experiences, Kate Spade New York aims to develop more effective, generation-specific support systems that honor how young women are reimagining wellness and community support.

As the conversation around women’s mental health continues to evolve, Kate Spade New York’s sustained commitment demonstrates that meaningful change requires both significant investment and ongoing partnership with communities most affected by mental health disparities.
