FOX’s Best Medicine Brings the Laughter — and the Heart — to the FOX Studio Lot for Star-Studded FYC Event

FOX brought the charm of Port Wenn to Los Angeles on May 5, 2026, hosting a For Your Consideration screening and panel for its breakout first-season comedy-drama Best Medicine at the FOX Studio Lot. Academy members and industry guests were treated to a screening of Episode 9, followed by a lively cast and creator Q&A that had the room equally in stitches and genuinely moved.
The evening brought together the full ensemble — Emmy Award-nominee Josh Charles, Abigail Spencer, Annie Potts, Josh Segarra, and Cree — alongside executive producers Ben Silverman, showrunner Liz Tuccillo, and Rodney Ferrell. A surprise appearance from Wattson, the series’ beloved canine cast member, kept the energy light, and the evening wrapped with a Port Wenn-inspired Cinco de Mayo celebration right on the lot.

Best Medicine, developed by Tuccillo and produced entirely by FOX Entertainment, follows Dr. Martin Best — a brilliant but notoriously blunt Harvard-educated heart surgeon who leaves a prestigious Boston hospital to become the general practitioner of the small coastal fishing village of Port Wenn, Maine, where he spent summers as a child. There, he navigates the quirks of small-town life while reconnecting with his Aunt Sarah, played by the always-warm Annie Potts. Charles leads the ensemble alongside Spencer as charming schoolteacher Louisa Gavin, Segarra as the lovable Sheriff Mark Mylow, and Cree as Martin’s endearingly inept assistant Elaine Denton.

The series, an American adaptation of the iconic British series Doc Martin, has been one of FOX’s strongest stories of the season — already earning a 12-episode Season 2 renewal in March 2026. With a 77% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a devoted audience, Best Medicine has proven that feel-good, character-driven storytelling still has a powerful place in primetime.
Best Medicine airs Tuesdays on FOX and is available next day on Hulu.
