Four Decades Rooted in the English Countryside
The designer behind the label grew up in rural Suffolk, and that upbringing still shapes every collection. After training at London’s Sir John Cass School of Art, Alex Monroe launched his first line in 1987, building a name for jewelry that was well-made, well-priced, and unmistakably tied to the natural world — bees, feathers, florals, and woodland creatures rendered in fine detail. Nearly 40 years on, the brand has become known for pieces like its signature bumblebee necklace, alongside daisies, birds, and alphabet pendants that carry the same handcrafted character.
Made in England, By Design
Every piece is designed and handmade in the brand’s London studio, using sterling silver, 18ct gold, and — as seen in this sapphire edit — colored stone work that keeps the scale delicate. Producing everything domestically also keeps the supply chain short, which the brand points to as a deliberate choice to reduce its environmental footprint and keep tighter control over quality and repairs.
