Marks & Spencer made a significant appearance at London Fashion Week 2026, presenting a collection that celebrates the heritage of British dressing while giving familiar wardrobe staples a distinctly contemporary feel.
Among the standout looks from the collection is this striking tweed ensemble, combining a sharply tailored double-breasted jacket with dramatically wide-leg trousers. The earthy brown and grey tones of the tweed immediately evoke traditional British tailoring, while the exaggerated proportions give the silhouette a modern, fashion-forward character.
The jacket is defined by its strong shoulders, sculpted waist and contrasting black lapels. Beneath it, a pale blue shirt adds a softer element, with its oversized collar and visible cuffs providing a subtle contrast to the structured tailoring. The combination creates a look that feels both polished and relaxed.
The wide-leg trousers are particularly important to the overall silhouette. Falling generously from the waist almost to the floor, they bring movement and volume to the outfit, transforming classic suiting into something more expressive. In the second image, the relaxed styling becomes even more apparent, showing how the same pieces can take on an effortless character away from the traditional runway pose.

The collection reflects Marks & Spencer’s long relationship with British fashion. Rather than simply reproducing traditional styles, the brand has revisited familiar ideas such as tweed tailoring, classic shirts and structured jackets and reworked them through contemporary proportions and styling.
There is also a strong sense of versatility in the look. Although the tailoring has the sophistication associated with formal British suiting, the generous trousers and relaxed shirt styling prevent it from feeling overly corporate. The result is a modern interpretation of the suit — one that can feel equally at home in a fashion editorial or an everyday wardrobe.
Tweed is central to that sense of British identity. Traditionally associated with country dressing and heritage tailoring, the fabric has been transformed here through an elongated silhouette and unexpected contrast detailing. The black lapels introduce a graphic quality, while the pale blue shirt brings brightness and softness to the otherwise muted palette.
The styling also demonstrates how proportion can completely change the character of familiar garments. A conventional tailored jacket becomes more directional when paired with extremely wide trousers, while the addition of an oversized shirt collar gives the ensemble a distinctly contemporary finish.
Marks & Spencer’s London Fashion Week presentation therefore feels rooted in the idea of evolution rather than reinvention for its own sake. The pieces draw on recognisable elements of British fashion, but their proportions, styling and attitude reflect the way modern wardrobes are becoming more relaxed and expressive.

These images capture that balance particularly well. The first look emphasizes the drama of the tailoring, with the model’s elongated stance highlighting the sweeping lines of the trousers. The second offers a more relaxed perspective, demonstrating the softness and movement within the same carefully constructed outfit.
At the heart of the collection is a simple idea: classic British clothing does not have to remain traditional. With thoughtful tailoring, exaggerated proportions and fresh styling, familiar pieces can be transformed into something contemporary.
For Marks & Spencer, its presence at London Fashion Week 2026 represents a new chapter in the evolution of its fashion identity — one where heritage remains important, but is expressed through a more confident, modern silhouette.
